How to install back to back boat seats

Leave new seat sets together and determine placement and check out how they line up and sit. Remove seat tops from base on new setup and mark holes. Caulk old holes and pre drill new screw holes. Insert caulk in new holes and then screw them in place and reattach seats and done I would store them somewhere if you have room.

Comment Post Cancel. TX this is extremely helpful. Thank you so much! Do you have any pics of your boat and what you did? Would love to see it. No pics. As stated On my sea ray I swapped the box lounge seats Only thing else I suggest is to hit carpet with drug store rental shampoo machine while you have old seat boxes out While you have those tubes of silicone handy My 96 bayliner had wood bases for the stern seats also. Over the years of wet folks getting in and out, water had run thru the seat cushions and into tops of the wood seat frames.

If you have similar setup I would make sure top edges of those wood seat frames in rear are sealed with silicone. Had I known I would have saved me some stress and work. The wood will be covered with glass, but you may see some stress cracks which is normal Cheap easy preventative measure. The seats can be separated from the base and then you can remove the screws that secure the base from the floor. The frame of the base is plastic and has holes for the mounting screws.

I didn't like those original seats, they were way too low and left little leg room for the driver. I replaced mine with pedestal seats which gave me much more room in the boat and much more comfortable.

Pedestals are nice but pricey I don't sit unless stopped anyway so really the loungers or pedestals dont matter to me. I usually kneel on one knee so I can see. If I sit I'm usually looking into back of somebody's head in the bow. I will say the box bases of lounge back to back seats offer great storage if they would provide an access side panel I never stretched those loungers out in the boat i had but mine was closed bow and extra seating came in handy Remove the temporary plastic edge protectors from each boat seat cushion by pulling them out of the upholstery.

This will not harm the seat vinyl, simply grab the edge of the plastic protectors and pull them out. Determine the location of the drivers bucket seat and place the backrest against the rear wall of the seating platform.

These bars come pre-installed and are bolted to the inner frame of your back rest behind a removable, upholstered panel. This will prevent damage to the fiberglass. Line the seat cushion up with the installed back rest and determine the spacing between the seat and back rest.

The hinge that is attached to the bottom of each seat cushion allows you to adjust the seat forward or back depending on the depth of your platform. There is a matching vinyl piece that is installed with each hinge, determine the location and screw the hinge and the vinyl to the platform. The vinyl piece will hide the aluminum hinge once it is installed. If you have a center fold down seat, determine where you want it to mount and install it with the attached hinge and vinyl piece just like you did with the bucket seat cushion.

Remove the attached stainless steel mounting bolts with a phillips head screw driver. Attach your pedestal seat mount to the bottom of the fishing seat and screw the mounting bolts back into the plastic frame of the fishing seat.

This will prevent misthreading of the t-nuts. Make sure your mount your boat seat to the pedestal in the proper way. Some pedestal mounts have a rear tilt built into them and mounting them incorrectly will make your seat uncomfortable. Unbeatable 6 Year Warranty Best Warranty in the business!
