Going forward, you may be unable to view information metadata such as the title, genre, and artist for songs, and the director, actors, and cover art for movies in Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player. After looking at customer feedback and usage data, Microsoft decided to discontinue this service. Was this reply helpful? Perhaps you can tell me how to tell Microsoft they need to continue guide support for products previously sold?

Am I the only person who thinks cable tv and satelite tv are too expensive and find over-the-air tv provides enough content to satisfy my needs? My only hope is that the warning was meant only for Windows 7 users and not intended to be seen by Windows 8. See attached image of guide change warning.

I posted in this forum for a discussion by the public in the hopes of attracting enough attention to Microsoft's plan to drop the guide in Media Center so they will change their mind and continue supporting all the features of Windows 8. I replied to your post to show that you were incorrect in your conclusion that what I saw in my Media Center window was only Microsoft dropping metadata support.

I don't expect to get anywhere talking to someone at Microsoft but am hoping that bringing my objections into public debate could be a factor in getting them to change their mind. By the way, I did contact Microsoft and their response was "they were sure I would like changing my computers over to Windows 10" and would I like their help doing that.

I have 2 computers with Windows 10 and 3 with Windows 8. Microsoft is making too many mandatory upgrades to Windows 10 and causing more problems than they can cope with.

Hi Damian — Great write up. I do not have an HTPC. I would prefer to leverage the server and PS3 as much as possible. It decodes nearly anything and works perfectly via the PS3.

So, happen to have any ideas on how to stream recorded TV to a PS3? Maybe incorporating an HDHomeRun? However, the big caveat here is that SageTV just got bought out by Google so their software will most likely lose support. Would SageTV even be necessary? I had a perfectly good ReplayTV running great for many years, extracted content to the server and viewed via PS3, but now ReplayTV will no longer be publishing guides effective next month.

Time to find a new solution. The loss of SageTV support has me a little concerned and would likely have trouble obtaining a licence key too. This is where SageTV would come in.
